BRONZE WORKS
Bronze tends to be moving and emotional – Frederick Hart
BRONZE WORKS
Frederick Hart’s casting of Three Soldiers in 1984 reawakened his love affair with bronze begun in his earlier years. The new possibilities with patinas excited his imagination and ignited his passion to create both large and intimate scale bronze sculptures.
Bronze tends to be moving and emotional. It suits me, suits my temperament. The Torso is the first life-size figure I ever did. The beauty of The Torso is not that it is a female nude, but that it is a sculptural nude. Making a piece of sculpture is much like writing a novel—you have to remember it’s a story— what you’re doing is not real.
